September 2011 - Back to School Activity

For our September Back to School Activity, we had some fun Back to school Activities!

We Made a list of States and Capitals! Nicol and Ilea won for having the most/most correct.

 We tried to figure out some rebus puzzles and optical illusions - Nicol had the most correct for the rebus puzzles as well!

Then Kim tested our knowledge of maps - we had a list of places to find. Some of these included: the equestrian park, Winchester Drive, Lone Peak Drive, the Jordan River, Ron Wood Baseball Park, Western Springs Park, Utah Boys Ranch, West Jordan Main Park and the Jordan River Parkway.

Next we did a Spelling Bee/Test with words from the Scriptures. We had: Magdalene, Millennium, Nebuchadnezzer, Omnipotent, Raiment, Deuteronomy, Ecclesiastes, Elohim/Eloheim, Gomorrah, Condescension, Arimathea, Atonement and Damascus. Christy F. Was our Champion of the Spelling Bee.

For Recess and PE, we jumped rope and used hula-hoops! Ilea was the best with the hula-hoop and Veronica was the winner on the jump ropes! She started jumping and just kept going and going! 

We finished up with lots of Back to School Supply Prizes and Rice Krispy Treats and drinks! Thanks to everyone for all the help! We had a great time!

5th Sunday/RS Presidency Lesson Discussions

A few weeks ago, we had a 5th Sunday where we just met as a Relief Society. We had been having some great discussions and decided to have some group discussion time. It was wonderful and we decided to continue the following week. These are the notes from those weeks:

June Cake Stand and Cake Decorating Activity

 Thanks to everyone who made our night a success!  Katie taught us some cake decorating techniques, and Wendy taught us a bit about some different frostings.  Then we made our cake stands.  We put E6000 glue around the top of the candlestick and stuck it to the center of the bottom of the plate just enought to give us a guide.  Then you pull them apart and retrace both the glue outline on the plate and on the top of the candlestick with the E6000.  Let them sit for 2-10 minutes seperately.  Then stick them together and let them sit.  If you can leave them for a few hours or overnight - this will make sure they are stuck together!

Afterwards, while the glue dried, we decorated our cupcakes.
